The Roman villa in Orbe is a luxurious estate which was built around 160 AD. Today it is the largest discovery of its kind in the northern region of the Alps.

The villa was surrounded by walls measuring about 400 meters on each side. The house had about one hundred rooms, many decorated with exquisite mosaics. MG School's private guide Mrs. Monnier had the key to open each pavilion protecting the mosaics and tell us their stories.

紀元前５８年、ユリウス・カエサルがローマへ移動するヘルウェティイ族を制圧した後、現在のスイスのほとんどの地域がローマ帝国の一部になりました。その影響として、それまで文字を持たなかったアルプスにローマのアルファベットがもたらされました。
